AI is rapidly permeating across all sectors of industry. On November 18th, the Institute for Information Industry’s Software Technology Institute (STI) hosted the 2025 STI TECH DAY, a major technology showcase that brought together experts from Taiwan and abroad across government, industry, and academia. Participants explored AI’s future development directions and application potential, while the event highlighted innovative use cases in key sectors such as smart transportation, AI software security, and governance, etc. STI also joined forces with the Institute for Information Industry’s Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) to release the “2026 Top 10 Key Technologies and Trends.” The event drew representatives from more than 65 companies. Through forward-looking technology R&D and field verification, the Institute for Information Industry aims to help domestic information service providers stay ahead of emerging technologies and strengthen their integration and application capabilities.

The forum invited several distinguished guests, including Meng-Ju Hsieh, Senior Executive Inspector of the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI) under the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA); Brian Shen, Chairman of the Information Service Industry Association of R.O.C. (CISA); and Professor Tohma Sogabe of the University of Electro-Communications in Japan. In his remarks, III President Chun-I Fan, stated, “As a key driver of digital transformation, the Institute for Information Industry serves as a bridge between public policy and the private sector. We will continue to support enterprises in adopting AI applications and strengthening risk management to ensure steady progress in digital transformation while helping innovative achievements take root.”

Brian Shen, Chairman of the Information Service Industry Association of R.O.C. (CISA), noted that the III’s Software Technology Institute (STI) and CISA have been working closely in recent months. The joint initiatives include establishing the I&C Application Alliance to provide enterprises with AI adoption guidelines, talent training, and technical support, as well as co-authoring the 2025 White Paper on Taiwan’s Information Software Services Industry to build industry consensus and promote the sector’s healthy development. Yi-Chih Wang, Division Chief of III’s Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) also remarked at the forum that AI development has shifted from breakthroughs in models to integrated applications. Looking ahead, enterprises will place greater emphasis on issues such as AI governance, trust, and security to ensure responsible AI adoption and sustainable growth.

III’s Software Technology Institute Showcases New AI Innovations, Demonstrating Cross-Domain Application Strength

The 2025 STI TECH DAY offered an accurate analysis for future AI trends and industry application directions while highlighting several latest AI innovations developed by the Software Technology Institute (STI). These include the “Digital Forensics Rapid Development Platform”, which helps government agencies and enterprises accelerate misinformation verification, compliance checks, and fraud detection to build a more trustworthy digital-governance environment. Another highlight was the “AI Smart Mobility System”, which integrates OCR-based intelligent document analysis, VLM image recognition, and GenAI decision-support technologies. Developed in collaboration with partners in Japan and introduced into traffic-safety testing environments, the system demonstrates strong potential for cross-border innovation in smart mobility.

The Software Technology Institute has also established the “FAiTH Security and Trust Evaluation Center”, which develops AI perception evaluation procedures, standards, and tools based on industry needs and international standardized methodologies. The center aims to help industries build robust AI safety and governance mechanisms, laying the foundation for a trusted and secure future mobility environment in Taiwan. In addition, the III is advancing applications in mobile AI networks by integrating AI, digital twin, and 6G communications technologies to create an AI-native network with precise positioning and intelligent connectivity capabilities. This next-generation network is designed to support smart-city development and Industrial 5.0 applications, opening up a new era of connected ecosystems.

In response to the AI-driven industrial landscape, III Software Technology Institute continues to uphold its mission of “advancing public benefit through innovation,” transforming its research and development results into industry-adoptable technological assets. These efforts help information service providers lower the barriers to AI adoption and accelerate the enhancement of core capabilities such as system integration, model application, and software security. By offering technical guidelines, sharing toolchains, and leveraging experience gained from demonstration testbeds, the III is guiding the industry from traditional customized services toward high–value-added intelligent solution models. This shift aims to strengthen the competitiveness and market expansion momentum of Taiwan’s information service providers in the AI era, ultimately driving broader industrial upgrading.

Gaining Insight into AI Development Trends: Predicting the Top 10 Key Technologies for 2026
