As future mobility devices become increasingly information-based, intelligent, and networked, safety has become a core element of smart vehicle industry development. On July 22nd, the Institute for Information Industry (III) established Taiwan's first "Formosa Automobility Intelligence Trustworthy Hub (FAITH)," a center for future mobility safety and reliability assessments. The event was supported by over 40 experts from academia and industry, including the Electric Vehicle Committee of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA), the Taiwan Telematics Industry Association (TTIA), the Taiwan Advanced Automotive Technology Development Association (TADA), and the Taiwan Electric Vehicle Industry Alliance (TEVIA). FAITH will provide comprehensive testing for smart vehicle software safety, establish a robust smart vehicle ecosystem, promote domestic industry development, and align with international standards.

President of the Institute for Information Industry (III), Cheng-Hung Cho, stated that AI, sensing, and intelligent ICT technologies are being widely applied to mobility devices. In addition to passing international automotive regulations, localized testing is urgently needed domestically to ensure the reliability and safety of these mobile products. For this purpose, the III's Software Technology Industry (III-STI) has integrated years of ICT technologies, including the Formosa Taiwan Street View Deep Learning Database, the world's first 5G satellite private network system, a resilient network system for disaster prevention and relief, and a cybersecurity assessment mechanism aligned with international standards, to establish the "FAITH – Formosa Automobility Intelligence Trustworthy Hub." By leveraging its position as an independent third-party institution, FAITH aims to develop the necessary testing mechanisms and scenarios for "AI Perception," "Resilient Communication," and "Information Security." These improvements will serve as essential foundations for creating a trustworthy environment for future mobility safety, addressing key challenges such as gaps in industry standards, demand for cybersecurity services, and technical consultation needs.

I-Heng Meng, Senior Vice President and Director General of III's Software Technology Institute further pointed out that FAITH focuses on three key indicators: reliability of vehicle AI recognition performance, risk assessment of data leakage and resilient communication mechanisms, as well as evaluation of information security and threat resistance capabilities. These assessments are applicable to the entire industry supply chain, covering chips, modules, systems, Tier 1 suppliers, and automakers. FAITH's efforts will aid in the future development of mobile AI perception capabilities, mitigate security concerns in connected vehicles and drone networks, effectively address international cybersecurity threats, and help Taiwan's smart vehicle industry explore new frontiers.

FAITH's AI perception testing services offer over 100,000 kilometers of road data covering various road types across Taiwan, more than 100 real-world driving scenarios, and multimodal sensing data (including images, LiDAR, thermal imaging, and 4D radar). The system is able to build digital twins, helping to reduce the costs of physical vehicle testing. In terms of resilient communication, FAITH simulates various driving scenarios to test and analyze communication functions and QoS (Quality of Service), providing network optimization and resilience enhancement recommendations to industry players. Additionally, by using a portable 5G private network system to analyze vehicular network packets, FAITH conducts protocol analysis, IoT testing, and packet flow analysis to ensure data security, addressing major concerns related to communication safety. For information security, FAITH references international cybersecurity frameworks and standards, developing security assessment mechanisms and automated security testing tools to evaluate the cybersecurity risks of in-vehicle systems. Through FAITH’s three major testing services, the operational safety and security of smart vehicles in complex real-world environments can be enhanced, while aligning with international standards and integrating into the global ecosystem.

FAITH has become Taiwan's first vehicle software testing unit, establishing an environment with high-standard testing capabilities and developing standardized procedures aligned with international standards to ensure the accuracy of test results. In the future, FAITH will continuously optimize and refine its testing procedures, expanding the scope and capabilities of its assessments to help the industry maintain its technological leadership. As a benchmark for vehicle software testing centers, FAITH aims to influence related Taiwanese businesses, driving the enhancement of the entire industry value chain and supporting the globalization of their products.

On July 22nd, the Institute for Information Industry (III) displayed its testing services for "AI Perception," "Resilient Communication," and "Information Security" at the event. The picture shows the representatives of III explaining and demonstrating the real vehicle system verification process to the representatives of each public association.
