Digital transformation has reshaped the way businesses operate today and profoundly influenced the development trends across various industries. With the support of the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) and the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT), the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Institute for Information Industry (III) has proactively promoted industrial digital transformation. Leveraging digital technology to improve educational environments in remote areas of Taiwan, III has garnered significant international recognition.

On November 7, III achieved remarkable success by winning four awards in the ASOCIO DX Awards, often referred to as the "Asian Cup of ICT." The awards were earned for its innovative solutions: "III 5G Sec. 360: Comprehensive 5G Intelligent Cybersecurity Protection," "Holistic Vision Education Platform," "Digital Operation Optimization Platform for Aquaculture Production and Marketing," and "GolfMaster Smart Golf Expert System." These accolades recognized excellence in four categories accordingly: Cybersecurity, Digital Education, Smart Cities, and outstanding Partnership Relations.

To enhance the implementation of software and information service applications and drive industrial digital transformation, the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO)—comprising 24 economies, including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, and representing 10,000 software and information service providers—hosts the annual the ASOCIO DX Awards. This event selects outstanding ICT solutions and real-world applications each year. Supported by the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) and the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT), the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) through technology programs, multiple technologies developed by the Institute for Information Industry (III) have received significant recognition.

Ren-Dar Yang, Executive Vice President of the Institute for Information Industry (III), stated that III has been promoting digital transformation across government, business, and academia for many years. Each year, numerous digital solutions developed by III receive international acclaim. Moving forward, III will continue to uphold its spirit of innovation, deepen the application of technology, and deliver more intelligent solutions to improve people's lives.

Ministry of Digital Affairs Drives Traditional Industry Innovation, Remote Digital Education, and 5G Cybersecurity, Garnering International Recognition

The best tools for industrial digitization are none other than digital twins and AIoT technology applications. Taking traditional aquaculture as an example, in the face of severe labor shortages, sustainable operations require transformation. With the support of the Administration for Digital Industries’ “Smart Perception System for Strengthening Industrial Resilience Development Program,” the III's Software Technology Institute (STI) has developed the "Digital Operation Optimization Platform Solution for Aquaculture Production and Marketing." This solution leverages technology to establish aquaculture grading standards and integrate ecosystem resources for shared use, assisting the digital transformation and application upgrades of aquaculture operations while advancing these technologies for international markets.

The Software Technology Institute (STI) of the Institute for Information Industry (III) has supported the digital transformation of 54 companies in the aquaculture technology ecosystem. These companies have implemented the comprehensive technology-based aquaculture solutions, enabling the recording of environmental and harvest conditions, water quality monitoring, intelligent feeding, and real-time environmental management. This transformation has increased the aquaculture area managed per person from 3 hectares to 10 hectares, saving an estimated NT$20 million annually in labor costs. By successfully achieving labor efficiency and productivity gains in fish farm management, these solutions have won multiple international awards, showcasing Taiwan's soft power on the global stage.

In addition to the promotion of digital transformation in traditional industries, the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI) has been relentless in dedicating its efforts to digital advancements in remote areas, ensuring that all residents benefit from the convenience and services brought by mobile broadband. Through the "Next-Generation Mobile Innovation Empowerment Development Program," ADI has supported III's Digital Transformation Research Institute (DTRI) in developing the "Holistic Vision Education Platform." This platform overcomes geographical, faculty, and resource limitations which are often faced by children in remote areas. Nowadays, by applying VR and MR mixed-reality spatial positioning technology, students can now engage in immersive remote learning, experiencing real-time two-way video streaming with their teachers in cities as if these students were in a physical classroom, learning in an interactive and game-like environment.

Driven by the vision of reducing educational disparities for children in remote areas, DTRI aims to provide every child with access to the new type of learning opportunities resulted from digital advancement. Immersive and interactive courses have already been implemented in two remote elementary schools, enabling open and cross-regional collaborative learning.

Notably, the global private 5G network market is experiencing rapid growth. According to forecasts by the Institute for Information Industry's Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), the global market size is expected to reach $251.8 billion by 2026. However, this growth is accompanied by rising concerns among enterprises about new cybersecurity risks associated with private 5G networks. To address this, with the support of the Administration for Digital Industries’“5G Cybersecurity Protection System Development Program,” the CyberSecurity Technology Institute (CTI) of the Institute for Information Industry (III) has developed the "III 5G Sec. 360: Comprehensive 5G Intelligent Cybersecurity Protection Solution." This solution features a robust 4A protection framework, including 5G device security assurance mechanisms (Assure), deep learning detection and defense technologies (AI-Defenses), system security auditing tools (Audit), and specialized attack-defense simulation assessments (Assessment). Supporting various private network deployment models, the solution is designed to meet evolving business needs and emerging threats, enabling businesses to proactively implement 5G private network cybersecurity application services.

The "III 5G Sec. 360" solution has been implemented and validated across multiple venues, including Taiwan’s National Theater and Concert Hall, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, as well as in smart manufacturing and smart education settings. A total of 68 5G industry chain stakeholders—including site operators, system integrators (SI), ICT equipment providers, and testing laboratories—have participated in the cybersecurity service deployment and validation of private network. This initiative has facilitated the establishment of secure 5G private network environments in Taiwan, driving the creation of a high-value digital economy.

MOEA Promotes Emerging Sports Technology Applications

III Develops Virtual Sports Coach to Pioneer a New Market

As technology advances, the public increasingly seeks to leverage AI for motion analysis, personalized training, and real-time corrective feedback to enhance training outcomes. Additionally, there is a strong market demand for smart sports venues and the application of emerging sports technologies.

Supported by the "Emerging Sports Technology Innovation and Service Application R&D Program" launched by The Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT), the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Software Technology Institute (STI) of the Institute for Information Industry (III) developed the Smart Golf Expert System "GolfMaster" to meet industry needs. This system provides features such as swing analysis, ball flight data, and playback reviews, complemented by an AI virtual coach offering intuitive, visual, and interactive instruction. Users can quickly understand their swing performance, enabling rapid skill improvement.

The "GolfMaster Smart Golf Expert System" also integrates the expertise of professional coach consultants with motion data from heterogeneous sensing devices, delivering an interactive AI virtual coaching experience. The system not only supports golf enthusiasts in self-directed learning, but also assists coaches in delivering precise instruction. The system has already been implemented at the Smart Golf Academy in the Technology Service Building. III will continue to collaborate with venue operators to develop innovative service models.

Developed by the Institute for Information Industry (III), the four technologies receiving the ASOCIO DX Awards not only highlight Taiwan's achievements in digital transformation and innovative technology under policy support, but also demonstrate the international recognition of Taiwan's ICT innovations and applications. Moving forward, III will continue to enhance its third-party digital services through the development of cutting-edge technologies and the promotion of industrial transformation, supporting industries in building a robust ecosystem.
