As global digital transformation and sustainable development become focal points for nations worldwide, the Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT) held its annual conference in Seoul, South Korea. The event delved into the latest developments in cross-border digital trade, data exchange, and sustainability across the region. Taiwan’s delegation, led by Dr. Cheng Hung Cho, President of the Institute for Information Industry (III) and Taiwan’s representative to AFACT, participated in the conference. The delegation included Turing Space, a Taiwanese blockchain company, showcasing innovative achievements in digital transformation and data sharing.

During the conference, Dr. Cho mentioned how Taiwan leverages its technological advantages in the semiconductor supply chain to address global challenges related to ESG transparency and net-zero carbon emissions. He also noted that Taiwan has established a cross-border carbon emissions data platform, which facilitates supply chain decarbonization and enhances transparency in carbon emissions management. Additionally, Dr. Cho shared Taiwan's progress in blockchain technology applications, emphasizing the transparency and immutability of digital certificates. These advancements improve the efficiency and security of international data mutual recognition and received high praise from representatives of other nations.

As a key player in the global supply chain, Taiwan has proactively participated in major international organizations in recent years, promoting digital trade and cross-border data exchange while providing forward-looking support through technological advancements. Dr. Cheng Hung Cho, President of the Institute for Information Industry (III), stated that Taiwan's proactive involvement in these fields underscores its responsibility and commitment as a core member of the global supply chain. He emphasized that Taiwan, leveraging its advanced technology and manufacturing expertise, will play a critical role in driving the green transformation of global supply chains. He called on industries and governments to collaborate in reducing carbon emissions and achieving the 2050 net-zero emissions target. Taiwan will continue to maintain its leading position, advancing core aspects in green transformation as well as the resilience in cross-border data exchange, while working with global partners toward a more sustainable future.

In addition to Taiwan's development of digital certificates through blockchain technology, representatives from South Korea, Japan, and India also shared innovative achievements in cross-border data exchange at the conference. The representatives from South Korea showcased the smart logistics management system, integrating IoT, drones, and artificial intelligence technologies with UN/CEFACT data standards to enable seamless transmission and tracking of logistics data.
