Bringing international recognition to Taiwan, III’s “Join 5G! Innovative Applications Experience Exhibition for Dedicated 5G Spectrum and Private Networks” won the Silver Award in the Interior Design category at the prestigious 2025 Rome Design Awards. Selected from thousands of entries worldwide, the accolade recognizes III’s excellence in 5G technology curation and cross-domain integration, showcasing Taiwan’s design ability to translate digital innovation into real-world experiences.
Supported by the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA), the exhibition was curated and executed in November 2024 by the Cultural Technology Center of III’s Digital Transformation Research Institute (DTRI). As Taiwan’s first cultural and creative park built entirely on dedicated 5G spectrum and private networks, the “Join 5G! Innovative Applications Experience Exhibition for Dedicated 5G Spectrum and Private Networks” attracted more than 10,000 visitors within just two days. With comprehensive on-site coverage enabled by dedicated 5G networks, the exhibition delivered an immersive vision of future smart living—allowing visitors to directly compare 5G and 4G download speeds after entering the venue and complete video downloads within 10 seconds, vividly demonstrating the transformative potential of 5G.
Centered on the theme “Join 5G,” the exhibition invited audiences to become “digital travelers,” exploring four thematic zones: “Safe Society”, “Sustainable Living”, “AI Manufacturing”, and “Joyful Learning”. Visitors wore smart wristbands and engaged with a suite of advanced technologies—including AIoT, AI-based image recognition, hybrid virtual-physical guided tours, real-time streaming, and motion capture—to immerse themselves in intelligent application scenarios. At the conclusion of the visit, each participant received a personalized digital record of their exhibition journey. Earning high praise from the judging panel, the project also incorporated green building materials and low-carbon construction methods, embodying a commitment to environmental sustainability and showcasing the green transformation capability through technology curation.
Harriot Lin, Director General of Digital Transformation Research Institute, indicated, “The Rome Design Awards carry forward the spirit of the Renaissance, emphasizing the fusion of art and technology. Winning this award is not only a strong endorsement of our team’s creativity and execution, but also a testament to Taiwan’s boundless potential in integrating technology and culture. Our goal is to bring technology closer to people—so that everyone who steps into the exhibition can truly feel that ‘the future is happening now.’”
This international recognition marks a significant milestone in III’s efforts to strengthen Taiwan’s design soft power and expand its global visibility. Looking ahead, III will continue to connect domestic and international creative forces with technological resources, advancing cross-disciplinary collaboration and real-world implementations to ensure Taiwan secures a prominent position in the global wave of technology-driven culture.
