Its expertise covers a broad spectrum of areas, including hardware, software, services, e-commerce, data communications, as well as the knowledge-based economy. Drawing on its knowledge, III can offer well-grounded and comprehensive assessments to strategic decision makers in the government.
Enhance the Development of the ICT Industry and Cultivate New Industries to promote the overall development of the ICT industry, and create opportunities for the formation of new allied industries that can leverage Taiwan‘s existing strengths. III works closely with the government in promoting initiatives that boost ICT industry growth. Typical projects include industrial park planning and coordination between industry and academia.
Moreover, III is active in seeking opportunities for joint ventures and other cooperative projects between local and foreign companies. III also provides detailed reports on Taiwan‘s ICT industry for potential investors interested in establishing ties in Taiwan, furthering the prospects for seeding new industries in Taiwan.
Proliferate ICT Applications and Bridge the Digital Divide to aid in the dissemination of ICT applications where they are less pervasive, and thereby bridge the digital divide in Taiwan.
III maintains a broad array of facilities and programs to ensure equal opportunity in accessing the benefits of ICT applications throughout the country. Regardless whether disparities exist between age groups, geographical locations, or because of other factors, III is working to close the digital gap that in the era of the knowledge economy is just as disabling as wealth gaps. And as the digital divide is increasingly closed in Taiwan through III programs and improvements in the public educational system, III‘s attention is broadening to include citizens in other less-privileged countries who are hampered by their lack of access to ICT applications.
